Ayo Olopon: Play Ayo Game Online Free
Ayo Olopon is one of the oldest board games in West Africa, played for centuries across Yorubaland on carved wooden boards with twelve pits and forty-eight seeds. It belongs to the mancala family, alongside Oware and Okwe.
Our Ayo brings the real board to your screen: seeds that drop one by one with a wooden click, captures that fly to your store, and a computer opponent from gentle to genuinely tough. Play alone or pass the phone to a friend.
How to play Ayo
- Each player owns the six pits on their side. Every pit starts with four seeds.
- On your turn, pick up all the seeds from one of your pits and sow them one by one into the next pits, moving counter-clockwise.
- If your last seed lands in your opponent’s pit and makes it two or three, you capture those seeds.
- Keep capturing backwards along your opponent’s row while the pits hold two or three.
- The first player to collect 25 seeds wins. 24 each is a draw.
